At Noble, Blood Donations Stay Local
| The Blood Donor Center at Noble Hospital provides a convenient location in which individuals can make a donation. Most of the blood donated may very well help a neighbor, a friend, or relative. It also saves the hospital from having to purchase it elsewhere. What to Expect When Donating Blood Giving blood is fast, easy and safe. Here's what happens: The entire process takes about 45 minutes. You'll be asked for a form of identification and provide your name, date of birth, and social security number. We will do a mini-physical examination that includes checking your temperature, your blood pressure and pulse, and a drop of your blood to be sure you have enough red blood cells to donate safely. You'll be asked about your past, present health, and lifestyle. Depending on your answers, you may be deferred from donating either temporarily or permanently. This interview will be private and confidential. Blood Donation Eligibility Guidelines To give blood you must be healthy, be at least 17-years-old and weigh at least 110 pounds. "Healthy" means that you feel well and can perform normal activities. If you have a chronic condition such as diabetes or high blood pressure, "healthy" also means that you are being treated and the condition is under control. You may donate blood every eight weeks. You need to tell the interviewer if you have traveled outside the U.S. within the last three years.
